Car Lights FAQ
Car Lights Service at CARma Auto Care
What is causing my brake lights or tail lights to not illuminate?
Answer: Although tail lights frequently run on the same circuit as the dash and parking lights, a blown fuse or a wiring problem is the most common cause. If only your brake lights are out, the most typical culprit is a faulty brake light switch near the pedal, or a burned-out bulb.
What is causing my headlights to go out or dim?
Answer: The most common reason is due to the bulb burning out or a fuse. If the issue is not resolved after replacing the bulb, it is probable there is a faulty wiring harness, a poor grounding connection, or a defective headlight switch or relay. We can run a diagnostic test to troubleshoot where the exact electrical issue is.
How often do car headlight bulbs need to be replaced?
Answer: Regular halogen bulbs last on average for one to two years, or 500 to 1,000 hours of usage. LED and HID bulbs will last much longer, usually 5 to 10 years. We advise changing bulbs in pairs (even if only one of them is out) to provide constant brightness and exposure.
Can I upgrade my vehicle's headlights to LED or HID bulb types?
Answer: Yes, you can upgrade; however, it must be done correctly. To avoid dispersing light and blinding other drivers, upgrading from halogen to LED or HID requires specialist kits and, in many cases, new housing assemblies. Using unauthorized bulbs in original housing can be both illegal and hazardous. We specialize in providing safe, legal, and effective headlamp improvements.
What is happening when my blinker/signal is clicking and flashing at a rapid pace?
Answer: When your turn signal flashes quickly, or "hyper-flashes," it usually indicates that a bulb in that circuit has burned out. This is a safety feature that alerts the driver that either the front or rear turn signal bulb is not working properly and must be replaced immediately.
